The PTO raises money to support educational programs at HDES — 100% of the money we raise goes directly back to the school. Fundraisers support and build the school community by hosting events such as a back-to-school ice cream social, supporting teachers with funding to spend on classroom supplies and field trips, sponsoring enrichment programs and special guest educators, organizing caregiver programs, encouraging students, faculty and staff with Star of the Week and Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week, improving the facilities with playground equipment and library books, planting and maintaining the school garden, and much more!
Read-A-thon
The HDES PTO Read-a-Thon is a popular program that encourages reading and literacy skills throughout our school community, and brings students together with their friends and family to support the PTO.
The Read-a-thon is designed to be a fun and exciting journey for all participants as they begin a personal Reading Adventure that challenges them to complete as many reading sessions as they can over a 2-week period. Students earn prizes for reaching both reading goals and donation markers. More information is provided to all families and staff as the Read-a-Thon gears up every year.
